Meaning of honeymoon

A honeymoon is the traditional holiday taken by newlyweds to celebrate their marriage in intimacy and seclusion. Today, honeymoons by Westerners are sometimes celebrated somewhere exotic or otherwise considered special and romantic.

  1. A period of time, after the wedding, that the new couple spends (traditionally) getting to know one another as man and wife, relaxing and getting used to having another person in thier life as a constant.
In our modern times, since many of us live together prior to getting married, the honeymoon is like a vacation, a time to relax and enjoy each other, alone, before returning to work and the 'real' world.
